STEMStar Child Safety Policy

At STEMStar, the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of every child are our highest priorities. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where children can explore, learn, and thrive.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

  • We value and respect all children, regardless of age, ability, background, or culture.

  • We are committed to providing a learning environment free from harm, abuse, or neglect.

  • We take a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, discrimination, or inappropriate behaviour.

Child Protection Responsibilities

  • All staff, teachers, and volunteers are required to act in the best interests of children at all times.

  • Staff receive training to recognise, respond to, and report any concerns related to child safety.

  • We comply with all applicable child protection laws, regulations, and guidelines in Australia.

Safe Learning Environment

  • Classes are delivered in safe, supervised spaces with appropriate adult-to-child ratios.

  • Equipment, tools, and technology are regularly maintained and age-appropriate.

  • Parents/guardians are welcome to communicate with teachers and observe sessions where appropriate.

Code of Conduct for Staff

  • Treat all children with respect, fairness, and encouragement.

  • Use positive and age-appropriate teaching methods.

  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times.

  • Report any suspected risk of harm or safety concerns immediately.

Empowering Children

  • We encourage children to speak up if they feel unsafe, worried, or uncomfortable.

  • We actively listen and take children’s concerns seriously.

  • We promote inclusivity, teamwork, and respect in all activities.

Parental Involvement

  • We value open communication with parents and guardians.

  • Parents are encouraged to share any concerns with staff directly.

  • We provide clear information about programs, safety measures, and emergency procedures.

Reporting and Response

  • Any suspicion or disclosure of harm will be responded to promptly and seriously.

  • Reports will be managed with confidentiality and sensitivity.

  • Where necessary, concerns will be referred to the appropriate child protection authorities.

Continuous Improvement

  • We regularly review our child safety practices and update policies as needed.

  • We welcome feedback from children, parents, and staff to strengthen our approach.
